Mere hours after Michigan won its second-straight game against rival Ohio State on Saturday, the team received its second commitment in a two-day span.

It was announced that 2023 Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods three-star cornerback Cameron Calhoun has joined the Wolverines after coming off his unofficial visit in Ann Arbor last weekend for the Illinois game. Calhoun decommitted from Cincinnati leading up to the trip north which marked his first time ever crossing the border to Michigan.

“Brotherhood,” Calhoun told On3 Sports. “The way I was bonding with people that I didn’t even know. As soon as I met them, it was like I knew them for years, and how protective they are over each other. The way they are about their business on and off the field definitely stood out.”

Calhoun was offered by Michigan back in October, as part of the crusade of Steve Clinkscale through his home state of Ohio, for fast-rising prospects in the 2023 class. Without a single commitment at the cornerback position for the entire calendar year, Calhoun becomes the first to do so, which is physical evidence of the early recruiting momentum for Michigan because of its Ohio State win.

“No question it is my dawg coach Clink,” Calhoun said. “He wants me to come in and play at corner and be the best in the nation.”

Calhoun has an On3 NIL Valuation of $15K with 5,400 combined followers on Instagram and Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Rounding out the 18-man 2023 recruiting class for Michigan are On300 offensive tackle Evan Link, On300 EDGE Enow Etta, On300 running back Cole Cabana, On300 EDGE Collins Acheampong, On300 linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, On300 offensive lineman Nathan Efobi, consensus four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr, three-star linebacker Breeon Ishmail, three-star running back Benjamin Hall, three-star EDGE Aymeric Koumba, three-star athlete Kendrick Bell, three-star tight end Zack Marshall and three-star kicker Adam Samaha.
