It’s the day after the Day After, and the Michigan fan base is still celebrating a win over Ohio State … as it should be. It was epic, and easily one of the top wins in Michigan Stadium history given what was at stake. Several of those we’ve spoken with (some here, in fact) who remember the 1969 game well have told us it’s right there with that one.

That 24-12 victory, of course, was also dominant, and it changed the rivalry.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh noted it “felt like the beginning” when asked about it. He later called it ‘the best (win)’ since he’s been at Michigan. While he said he was talking about this team and what it could still accomplish, we strongly suspect he was talking about the future of the series and his team’s potential going forward.

There was a lot of good, young talent out there Saturday. Donovan Edwards, Zak Zinter, Andrel Anthony, Trevor Keegan (who was head hunting Saturday), J.J. McCarthy, D.J. Turner, Rod Moore, Junior Colson.

There’s more in the Michigan redshirt frosh class, too, like tight end Louis Hansen, and tackle Rayshaun Benny.

They all now know how it feels to beat Ohio State, and that’s huge. It’s now got to be the expectation.

You’re not going to win every one, but as we saw Saturday, you’ve got a much better chance going in if you think you’re going to.

And they did. As we wrote in the pregame notes and again in the postgame Notes, Quotes & Observations, you could tell these Michigan guys felt they were going to win watching them in the pregame.
