Michigan football podcast: The Balas and Skene Show, post-OSU
Ohio State beat Michigan for the first time since 2019, capturing a 27-9 win in the Wolverines’ latest disappointing showing offensively. The Wolverines played it close to the vest, throwing for only 63 yards, and dropped their first home game of the year.
“Obviously, I’m very disappointed in the result,” Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said. “Credit to them and how they played and how they executed. We did not, to our standard. We started off fast, thought we started off with good rhythm offensively … defensively we held them with a big goal line stand, held them to a field goal, but we didn’t execute in the red zone, which ended up being the story of the game.
“And then the second half, not being able to get a rhythm offensively — they did a good job, and credit for that … [but] you know, there’s no excuse for it. We’ve got to be so much better, and they outplayed us today. So yeah, you’ve got a lot to work on.”
Michigan will likely play in the Citrus Bowl agains Texas.
Jordan Marshall aggravated a shoulder injury suffered against Northwestern after getting off to a good start, limited after that. An already challenged offensive became completely ineffective from that point.

“He just got back in there and tried to push a little bit more. Jordan Marshall is a really good player, and when you have him, it puts a positive impact on your offense,” Moore said. “So, it was a huge piece for us to have him … but we had a lot of trust in Kudz [Bryson Kuzdzal] like we showed last week. So, the plan doesn’t change. There are bigger things in pass protection that you might have to do a little bit different because he’s a bigger back, and we’ve got to continue to evaluate all those things.”
The Wolverines will try to get their 10th win of the year in the bowl game.
“It’ll be about preparing for the game just like we did last year, preparing for the bowl game as much as we can and getting as good as we can at football,” Moore said. “It’s big time, whatever it is … it’s a chance to have 10 wins, right? And 10 wins in college football is huge, so we’re going to attack it.
“Whoever we have to play, whatever scene, wherever we go, we’re going to enjoy it, but we’re going to attack it and we’re going to get better.”
