TheWolverine.com’s Clayton Sayfie, EJ Holland and Tim Verghese discuss the latest surrounding Michigan Wolverines football recruiting, including on the rumors swirling that head coach Jim Harbaugh could be up for an NFL job. Verghese also provides his takeaways from seeing practices and the All-American Bowl in San Antonio over the weekend.

In this episode, Holland provided his take on the Harbaugh rumors and if there is any impact on Michigan’s recruiting effort.

“We’ll just see how that plays out with the NFL Playoffs, but as far as Harbaugh himself and recruiting, he’s taking it business as usual,” Holland said. “He held recruiting meetings [Tuesday night]. They had recruiting meetings to plan out what they are going to do on the road, talking about guys that are coming in for visits, what they have going on. He was at Schembechler Hall leading the way in that charge.

“He set some visits, too. He’s set to see top 2023 offensive tackle target Luke Montgomery. He has a tentative date to go see five-star offensive lineman Josh Conerly up in Seattle…

“… On recruits’ end, I haven’t been the one to ask parents or recruits, hey, what do you think about these Harbaugh rumors? I just think it’s poor form. But a few recruits, obviously, have brought it up in interviews. I think recruits across the country live on the internet, so they see the rumors, they know they’re out there; everybody does at this point.

“I don’t think it has a major affect to where it’s really, really hurting Michigan. I think the longer it goes on, the more it does affect Michigan, but right now guys are still coming in for visits, recruits have continued to talk highly of Michigan and we go through this every year.

“Every year, there are NFL rumors. Last year it was, ‘Will Jim Harbaugh even keep his job?’ We go through it every year, and it always turns out fine. So I’m not too concerned, and from the recruits I talk to, I don’t think they’re too concerned.”
