Michigan has made a statement on the recruiting trail.

The Wolverines picked up a commitment from On300 Avon (Ohio) High offensive lineman Luke Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.

Hamilton made his decision less than 24 hours after Michigan topped rival Ohio State.

“Being born in Ohio, you’re brought up to not like Michigan and always wanting Ohio State to win,” Hamilton said. “But I am very impressed with Michigan. They didn’t come out too hot last week but this week they were on fire. They were more physical than Ohio State was and deserved the win.”

Hamilton picked Michigan over offers from Boston College, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others.

He announced his pledge via social media.

“First off, I would like to thank everyone in my life that has helped me get to this point,” Hamilton said on social media. “Especially my parents who have constantly supported me through everything – I can’t thank them enough. I’d like to thank God for giving me the ability to play at the next level and be in this situation. I’d also like to thank my Avon coaches and teammates who have helped me grow as a player, and as a person. Lastly, I’d like to thank all the coaches who have recruited me during this whole process. With all of this being said, I am blessed to announce that I am committing to the University of Michigan.”

Hamilton made an unofficial visit to Michigan for its game against rival Michigan State last month. It was there where Hamilton really fell in love with the program, and the Wolverines began to trend on the On3 Prediction Machine.

At 6-foot-4, 290 pounds, Hamilton projects as an interior offensive lineman at the next level.

Hamilton is ranked as the No. 15 interior offensive lineman and No. 215 overall prospect nationally next cycle, per the On3 Consensus. He is also ranked as the No. 8 overall recruit in the state of Ohio.

Hamilton is the third commit in Michigan’s 2024 recruiting class, which also features On300 Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth linebacker Mason Curtis and rising Wallingfoord (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall defensive lineman Manuel Beigel, who is originally from Germany.

Hamilton has an On3 NIL Valuation of $8.6K with 2.5K followers across all platforms. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
