Michigan has been acknowledged for its dedication to the NIL landscape, earning a nomination for Best Institutional Program at the inaugural NIL Awards.

The award is meant to honor a college or institution that has “shown exceptional commitment to supporting its student-athletes in maximizing their Name, Image and Likeness opportunities through a combination of education, resources and industry-leading innovation.”

Five other universities were nominated for this honor alongside Michigan including Arkansas, Auburn, Boise State, Oklahoma State and Ohio State.

Additional categories to be awarded at the event are Athlete of the Year, Scholar Athlete of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Athlete Advocate of the Year, Breakthrough Athlete, Hustle Award, Crypto Award, Best Individual Campaign, Best Team Campaign, Best Social Media Campaign and Brand of the Year. Nicole Auerbach (The Athletic), Drew Butler (Icon Source), Kristi Dosh (BCS), Morgan Frazier (SANIL), Monique Nelson (UWG), Nick Marquez (Meta), Darren Rovell (Action Network) and Neeta Sreekanth (INFLCR) were among those on the selection committee.

The NIL Awards will act as part of the new NIL Summit, a three-day experience (June 13-15) created with the purpose of “democratizing student athletes.” It is expected to feature more than 350 student-athlete delegates who will have the chance to attend classes, workshops and panels covering topics such as influencer marketing, content creation, personal brand management, wealth building, entrepreneurship and career growth.

Via NIL Summit:

“Whether it’s hearing from the world’s foremost celebrity influencers, being inspired by their favorite pro-athlete turned business mogul, or having the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded professionals who want to shape the future of college athletics, student-athletes will leave the NIL Summit equipped with the knowledge and relationships necessary to leverage their influence to create a better future for themselves and their communities.”

The awards ceremony goes down Monday, June 13 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga.
