On3.com was in attendance of the commitment party of 2024 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis on Friday where the new Michigan pledge spoke to reporters following the event.

Davis, the No. 4 ranked quarterback in the country, discusses his decision, relationship with quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell, regular talks with JJ McCarthy and why the resources at Michigan were suited to fit his goals on-and-off the field.

On the emotions of announcing a commitment:

“It was extremely hard. Everyone was asking me where I was going and I really didn’t know. But now I know and I’m certain on it. I can’t wait to get to Ann Arbor. I feel a great deal of satisfaction. To have 40-plus offers and to get down this point was a hard decision. But this was right for me and no one else. I’m grateful to showcase my talents at the University of Michigan.”

On choosing Michigan:

“Number one, academics. My mom has always been set on books more than ball. That was a big one and just meeting Coach Campbell. I really vibed with him and some of the guys on the team as well. They treat me like a little brother and I appreciate that. JJ and I are like brothers. Everything from the recruiting staff, an academic standpoint and football standpoint, it was the right decision.”

On what made Michigan specifically stand out throughout Davis’ search:

“If you look at my recruiting process, I’ve been to a lot of schools multiple times. It wasn’t just so I could take pictures. A person can’t lie to you five-of-six times and every time that I went up to Michigan, they were always the same with me and always showed me love. They even sent my little brother a birthday card on his birthday. I’m all about loyalty at the end of the day and that’s with the University of Michigan.”

On the March visit making major difference:

“It helped finalize my decision a lot. I never met Coach Campbell in person before that. I saw him on campus but he wasn’t my primary recruiter so we never got the chance to interact. I’m such a big vibes guy where if I don’t have a good vide with a person, I can’t see myself going there. But we clicked instantly and he made a lasting impression on me.”

On Kirk Campbell:

“Coach Campbell made a great impact. Coach Campbell came in and set the foundation for our relationship which we kept building on. I love everything that he stands for, his daughter and his wife. I love everything that Coach Campbell preaches to the quarterback room. He’s a guy who truly knows the quarterback position from a management and footwork standpoint. I feel like he’s going to be a hell of a coach.”

On JJ McCarthy

“JJ is like a brother to me. We send each other paragraphs or short texts every day. He’s always helping me with the position and has let me know that he’s always going to be there for me. I greatly appreciate that. His dad and my dad have a great relationship as well. JJ is my dawg for life and I couldn’t be happier.”

On the weight lifted off Davis’ shoulders:

“I can breathe now. I’m fully committed to the University of Michigan and I can now recruit my guys. I can promise you all that I’m going to deliver and promise that I won’t under deliver. I’m going to ensure these guys that we’re going to come in and work for our opportunity. Once we get the opportunity to come on the field, we’re going to show how it is.”
