Michigan class of 2023 shooting guard target George Washington III is about ready to make his decision. He told Stockrisers.com he’ll announce Nov. 1 between U-M, Wake Forest, Louisville, Dayton, and others, but there are signs the Wolverines might be in good shape.

Washington visited Michigan a few weeks ago, an outstanding trip. He said even before the visit U-M was moving up his list quickly.

“Playing for coach Juwan Howard would be big time. That’s another pro coaching staff,” he said. “They get it done. Play style wise I feel like it fits me, too.”

The 6-2, 165-pounder originally from Louisville pledged to Ohio State originally, but his recruitment opened up Sept. 5. He averaged 9.0 points and 0.8 rebounds through six Peach Jam games while shooting 34 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from three. He also dished out one assist for every two turnovers.

Washington is currently ranked No. 135 in On3’s 2023 rankings. His father is currently an assistant at Dayton with the women’s program. His parents both played in Finland, and his mom was an All-American at Abilene Christian.

Wake Forest will have gotten his last visit before deciding.

Michigan received its first pledge last week when Papa Kante of South Kent (Conn.) School committed to the Wolverines over Rutgers, Maryland, Memphis, and others. He’s currently On3’s No. 32 senior prospect nationally. The Wolverines also hosted Australian Alex Toohey on a visit last week. The 6-7 senior was set to visit Gonzaga next.

Watch for more on these developments in the days to come.
