Wolverines in the NFL: Catch Blake Corum if you can
Former Michigan Wolverines football running back Blake Corum put forth a career effort in a 45-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals as his uptick in production continues.
The 5-foot-8, 202-pounder rushed 12 times for a career-best 128 yards and 2 touchdowns, highlighted by a 48-yard touchdown run that’s the longest of his career.
“[Breaking a big touchdown run is] definitely something I’ve been wanting to do and feel like I’ve been super close,” Corum said postgame. “The line has blocked it really well a couple of times and it was just up to me to finish the play off.”
Corum has split carries with starter Kyren Williams all season but is earning more playing time lately, and both have been able to stay fresh. Williams is eighth in the league with 952 rushing yards, punching in 8 touchdowns, while Corum has 550 yards and 4 scores on 101 attempts.
“When I’m on the sideline, I see Kyren break off and run, I get hyped,” Corum said. “And that makes me, when I go in, I want to break off a long one just so we can keep feeding off each other.”
The Rams are 10-3 and winners of seven of their last eight games ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Detroit Lions.
