LOOK: Five-star QB Dante Moore enjoying Michigan visit
It’s visit day for Michigan Wolverines football and Detroit King five-star quarterback Dante Moore, who’s currently on an unofficial trip to Ann Arbor. Moore texted TheWolverine.com‘s EJ Holland a photo from the visit, featuring a brand new Michigan hat he purchased, and said he’s enjoying his time.
“Five-star QB Dante Moore told me he’s having a good time on his unofficial visit to Michigan,” Holland wrote.

Moore also got a tour of The Big House, the largest stadium in college football, and dressed up in a Michigan uniform with the iconic winged helmet.
A local product, Moore has been to U-M’s campus a number of times, most recently for the Wolverines’ basketball game against Iowa March 3. He was also in Ann Arbor earlier this winter, Feb. 5. He was also set to make it to town in mid-April but wasn’t able to make it in. Now, he’s on campus and having a great time.
Moore is the No. 8 overall player in the country, the fourth-best quarterback nationally and the top player in the state of Michigan, per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Moore recently visited Oregon (April 29) and LSU (April 22), two contenders along with Michigan. He saw Notre Dame, which is also in the mix, back in March.
He’ll continue to go through the recruiting process throughout the summer and is aiming for a decision before the fall.
“I’m going to try to take all five of my official visits and make my decision probably right before the season,” Moore told TheWolverine.com last month.
The Michigan staff is getting its face time with Moore Friday, and it’s an entire staff effort. Head coach Jim Harbaugh is personally involved, along with quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss, wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore and others.
Included in Moore’s visit was a trip to the Michigan baseball game. The Wolverines beat Rutgers, 9-7, and can capture the three-game series sweep Saturday.
An elite signal-caller, Moore led his team to the Division 3 state title last season and this spring earned an invite to the Elite 11 Finals in June. He was named State Champs’ Mr. Football for 2021, the first junior to win the award that honors the state’s top player, which began being handed out in 2008. He’s thrown for 5,992 yards during his three-year career as a varsity starter.
Moore was born in Ohio and has family in the state, but he’s grown up in Michigan and attends nearby Martin Luther King High. Harbaugh was the first college coach to offer Moore a scholarship, and he has longstanding relationships with players and coaches alike.
“I’ve probably been there over 100 times,” Moore said. “When I was younger, I did the YIP [Youth Impact Program[ camp, and we went there for two weeks straight for four years. They always ask me what I want to see. I’ve seen everything I can possibly see. I’ve been there for a game day, a spring game, practices and more. I’m just trying to get my family from Ohio on these visits. There isn’t much I need to see anymore. But I am going to get back out there. It’s only 30 minutes away.”
