Michigan football reveals uniform combination for Wrigley Field game against Northwestern
Michigan Wolverines football will take on Northwestern on Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The U-M program announced Friday afternoon that the Wolverines will wear white jerseys with blue pants and blue accessories.
Here’s a look at what Michigan will wear Saturday:
This is the Wolverines’ fifth of six road games on the season. They wore white pants in a 31-20 win over Michigan State Oct. 25, blue pants in a 30-27 win over Nebraska Sept. 20 and a 31-13 loss to USC Oct. 11, and they sported maize pants in a 24-13 setback to Oklahoma Sept. 6.
During the first six years of the Jim Harbaugh era (2015-20), Michigan wore white pants for all but one road game (at Penn State in 2017; maize), but U-M started switching up the pant color choice much more so in 2021, debuting blue pants on the road in a win at Wisconsin that season. Wrigley Field is the home of the MLB’s Chicago Cubs. This will be the Wolverines’ first outdoor came at a baseball field since a 27-6 loss to No. 1 Army Oct. 14, 1950 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y.
Michigan did play Minnesota 12 times at the Metrodome, which was the home to the MLB’s Minnesota Twins, but that venue was also the primary place of competition for football teams such as the Golden Gophers and the NFL’s Vikings.
The FOX Big Noon Kickoff pregame show will begin at 9 a.m. on the corner of Waveland and Sheffield in Chicago. Teams will arrive at Wrigley Field around the same time, and gates open for fans at 9:30. The Northwestern band will take the field at 10:53 a.m., and kickoff is slated for 11:10 a.m. local time.
