Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is back to work on the 2023 season and preparing for spring football and his ninth season at the helm. The Denver Broncos recently hired Sean Payton, ending their dalliance with the Michigan coach, and now he’s back to work on the recruiting trail and fielding what should be another outstanding team.

Can the Wolverines three peat? And which young players are going to make a move this spring? We talk about that and more in today’s chat, here: THEWOLVERINE.COM THURSDAY CHAT, Feb. 2.

Sean Payton Denver bound … it’s still time to get Jim Harbaugh signed

Michigan missed out on portal cornerback Davison Igbinosun — he’ll go to Ohio State after visiting U-M — but why? Both schools need help at the position, and the coaches gave him plenty to think about. Will the Wolverines chase another in the transfer portal?

We discuss that, too, in chat, along with Michigan and its NIL strategy, where things stand.

Michigan basketball — can Juwan Howard get it turned around?

Michigan basketball, meanwhile, travels to Northwestern tonight to try to turn the season around. The Wolverines are 5-5 and reeling, coming off an embarrassing loss at Penn State in which they trailed by 30.

Head coach Juwan Howard admitted he didn’t have his team ready to go. As a result, the Wolverines are on the outside looking in at the NCAA Tournament.

“It starts with me as the coach,” Howard said after the game. “I did a poor job preparing the group to play and compete out here today. And I’m not taking anything away from what Penn State did. They played phenomenal. They were prepared. Coach [Micah Shrewsberry] told me at the end of the game that they had three days to prep for this, and you can see how they showed it.

“We knew shooting was gonna play a role, but there were times where they were uncontested. There were times when they got layups, and that can’t happen. So that’s why I say it starts with me. I’ve got to do a better job of preparing us. I will do better to help put our team in a better position than what we showed today.”

We’ll see what happens tonight in Evanston.
