Former Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson took his talents to the baseball diamond Saturday evening as he threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Detroit Tigers game.

With Detroit preparing for the second leg of a doubleheader, Hutchinson graced Comerica Park to switch things up and show off his arm for a change in front of quite a familiar fanbase. Many of those in attendance for this Tigers-Rockies clash hope the Plymouth, Mich. native slips past Jacksonville at the top of the 2022 NFL draft, landing with the Lions at No. 2 overall.

But regardless of what the future holds for Hutch, Detroit fans gave him the warm welcome we all expected.

This honor somehow managed to fall on the same day Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera made history by becoming the seventh player to notch 3,000 career hits and 500 home runs. Fortunately, the 21-year-old EDGE talent avoided any mishaps despite having such a tough act to follow.

The “Pass Rush U” product visited his nearby MLB franchise on Friday as well prior to the original contest being postponed due to rain. Hutchinson gladly posed for pictures with Detroit outfielders Derek Hill, Robbie Grossman, 2020 No. 1 overall pick Spencer Torkelson and others while sporting a custom Nike No. 97 Tigers jersey. Detroit’s social media team wrote: “Michigan kid through and through. Thanks for visiting, @aidanhutch97!”

Hutchinson set a single-season program record with 14 sacks for the Wolverines in 2021. The Heisman Trophy runner-up was also a two-time Michigan football captain, a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and finished his collegiate career as a Consensus All-American.

To see where Hutchinson calls home at the next level, tune in to the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. ET.
