The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was in Detroit over the weekend seeing On300 Michigan offensive line commit Amir Herring in game action.

Herring served up plenty of pancakes and had a strong performance overall despite West Bloomfield (Mich.) High’s 38-13 loss to Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech on Friday night.

Watch game clips from the contest and get Holland’s analysis below.

Herring committed to Michigan in July over offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Penn State, West Virginia and others.

“It feels great to be committed to Michigan,” Herring said after giving the Wolverines a verbal pledge over the summer. “I feel like I made a really great decision. Overall, I’m blessed and fortunate. I can’t wait to build this class. I’m already going after guys. We’re excited about the future.”

Herring is a teammate of fellow 2023 Michigan commit Semaj Morgan. He is also a former teammate of current Wolverines Donovan Edwards and Makari Paige and won a state championship under U-M assistant Ron Bellamy, who was previously the head coach at West Bloomfield.

At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, Herring is ranked as the No. 20 interior offensive lineman and No. 306 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Consensus.

Michigan has 15 commits in its 2023 recruiting class — On300 offensive tackle Evan Link, On300 EDGE Enow Etta, consensus four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star EDGE Collins Acheampong, four-star running back Cole Cabana, four-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr, three-star running back Benjamin Hall, three-star EDGE Aymeric Koumba, three-star tight end Zack Marshall, three-star athlete Kendrick Bell and three-star kicker Adam Samaha.

The class is currently ranked No. 26 nationally in the On3 Consensus rankings and No. 4 in the Big Ten behind Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State.
