In the coming weeks, 2025 Mississippi State signee Matthew Lefeau will begin a new chapter in his gridiron career. The On3 three-star offensive lineman enrolls at Mississippi State in June and has been preparing for that move.

This spring Lefeau has been training with his Shasta (Calif.) College teammates. Lefeau is rated as the nation’s No. 34 overall juco prospect and the nation’s No. 2 juco interior lineman by On3 rankings.

“I’ve still been working out with my team so that’s a good thing,” the 6-foot-5 Lefeau explained. “I’ve been doing extra things, too, with my footwork and working on my explosion, as well. I’m at 350 pounds and Mississippi State coaches said they want me at my comfortable weight. I think I am comfortable at 350.”

In Lefeau’s talks with his future Bulldog coaches, Lefeau has discussed his possible position this season at Mississippi State. For now, that could be multiple positions, he shared.

“We’ve talked about my position and they still want me at guard or center,” remarked Lefeau. “It’s been good talking to the coaches and it’s been really good building a relationship with Coach (Phil) Loadhalt.”

Lefeau officially signed with Mississippi State last December and back then, he expected to learn from offensive line coach Cody Kennedy. However, Loadholt replaced Kennedy not long after Lefeau signed and of late, Lefeau has built a good relationship with Loadhot.

“Coach Loadholt has been telling me what to expect and things like that,” Lefeau added. “I didn’t know him before he got to Mississippi State. But I have talked to a lot of the staff about him and they talk well of him. He is down to earth and I like the way he coaches.”

Naturally, Lefeau has several things on his summer to-do list after he arrives at Mississippi State. But one of those tasks takes priority over the others.

“I think learning the playbook is the biggest thing for me,” noted Lefeau. “I am already getting physically and academically ready. So it’s about the playbook, feeling comfortable there and learning the plays and then competing for a spot.”

While most of his fellow juco signees enrolled in January and went through State’s spring practice, Lefeau had to wait another semester before joining them. And that wait has only made Lefeau more “eager” to get started in the Maroon and White.

“I’m 120 percent ready to get there and more than ready,” Lefeau mentioned. “I am very eager to get there and be with Coach (Jeff) Lebby and his program. He told me they added juco guys that could start and wants us to have a big impact.”
