Inside the numbers: Mississippi State-Arkansas first half stats

Mississippi State and Arkansas have reached halftime at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium and Arkansas leads 13-7.
After State’s defense held on the first possession of the game, State’s offense converted a key fourth down near midfield and took an early 7-0 lead with 7:06 left in the first quarter. Blake Shapen hit Davon Booth for an eight-yard touchdown pass to cap off the 80-yard drive.
Arkansas fought back to tie the game early in the second quarter. Taylen Green hit Rohan Jones for a 3-yard touchdown pass with 13:54 remaining in the half, tying the game at 7-7.
The Razorbacks maintained momentum later in the second quarter and took their first lead of the game. Scott Starzyk drilled a 42-yard field goal and Arkansas took a 10-7 advantage with 7:32 remaining in the opening half.
Arkansas would increase its lead to 13-7 late in the first half. The Razorbacks converted a 3rd and 20 at midfield and ended up with a 30-yard field goal by Starzyk at the end of the half.

In the first half, State managed just 122 yards of offense and only had 12 rushing yards. The Bulldogs were 3 of 7 on third down and had one penalty for five yards. The Bulldogs held the ball for just 10:42 of the first half.
Arkansas had 253 yards of offense with 165 through the air. The Razorbacks were 3 of 8 on third down and 2 of 2 on fourth down. Arkansas had three penalties for 35 yards and had the ball for 19:17 of the first half.
Individually, Shapen was 8 of 15 passing for 110 yards with one touchdown. Shapen also led the ground game with three carries for 18 yards while Brenen Thompson had two catches for 31 yards.
For Arkansas, Green was 14 of 19 for 165 yards with one touchdown and also had 10 carries for 33 yards. Mike Washington had nine carries for 44 yards while Raylen Sharpe had four catches for 77 yards.
