NC State baseball officially made the NCAA Tournament Monday, joining South Carolina, Campbell and Central Connecticut State for a regional in Columbia. The Wolfpack plays its first game of the weekend Friday, and DraftKings Sportsbook has already posted odds for that matchup and more.

First pitch against Campbell is scheduled for 1 p.m.. No. 3-seeded NC State goes into the showdown against its in-state opponent as the underdog at +105 odds. The Fighting Camels led the NCAA in runs per game this year.

“They’ve got a really good team,” head coach Elliott Avent said Monday evening. “A lot of older guys who play with a lot of confidence, good pitching, good hitting, they do it all the way around. What a great job they’ve done there throughout the last few years, not just this year.”

In addition to the opening game numbers, the Wolfpack also holds +10000 odds to win the College World Series, which ties the program with Maryland, Iowa and Texas Tech. The program recorded a 35-19 record so far this season and finished with a 13-16 mark in the ACC, winning 4 of its final 5 matchups going into the tournament.

This quote is from Pack junior pitcher Sam Highfill, talking about his experience watching the NCAA Tournament selection show.

“It was pretty suspenseful, especially after last year,” Highfill said. “I didn’t want to experience that heartbreak again. I was worried that we might have to but, fortunately, I think the committee made the right decision, and I think this team deserves to play in the postseason.”
