TheWolfpacker.com’s Thursday Morning Newsstand

NC State officially added one more prospect to its 2023 recruiting class Wednesday with the signature of four-star junior college safety Bishop Fitzgerald. As a result, the Wolfpack wrapped up National Signing Day with the On3 Consensus No. 35 recruiting class in the country, finishing No. 6 in the ACC.

A total of 9 of the Wolfpack’s 18 prep signees are considered a four-star prospect by at least one recruiting service, highlighted by cornerback Brandon Cisse, offensive tackle Darion Rivers and tight end Javonte Vereen, who all make the On300. Safety Daemon Fagan is the highest-ranked member of the class, according to the On3 Consensus, at No. 311.

Fitzgerald’s original Jan. 25 commitment propelled the Pack up to No. 30 in the recruiting rankings, but a late surge by a few of the teams behind the program led to a drop in the standings. NC State was primed to finish with a top-five class in the ACC before a late commitment for Louisville propelled the Cardinals into the top-30 of the standings, past both the Wolfpack and UNC.

This is On3’s summary of the Wolfpack’s 2023 recruiting class:

“Landing Fagan, who held offers from Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame and Ohio State among others, was an impressive recruiting win for head coach Dave Doeren and his staff. The Wolfpack’s other four-star signee is tight end Javonte Vereen, the No. 10 player in North Carolina. North Carolina State has commitments from four other players ranked in the top 500 of the On3 Consensus. They are three-star safety Zack Myers, three-star cornerback Brandon Cisse, three-star offensive tackle Darion Rivers and three-star running back Kendrick Raphael. Both Cisse and Rivers are rated as four-stars by On3.”
