The Wolfpacker’s Monday Morning Newsstand

NC State football received some good news Saturday evening when four-star Cummings High wide receiver Jonathan Paylor announced a top-10 schools list that included the Wolfpack. He is one of the program’s top targets in the junior class and, so far, that interest in being reciprocated.

Ohio State, Maryland, Tennessee, Clemson, LSU, UNC, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama all made the cut as well. Paylor is the On3 Consensus No. 18 wide receiver nationally, the No. 2 prospect in North Carolina’s 2024 class and the No. 106 recruit overall.

He visited NC State for two home games this fall and also stopped by one of the program’s camps in June to support a teammate. Notably, he did not attend the Alpha Wolf Showcase and instead chose to travel to UNC for an unofficial visit.

During his junior season at Cummings, Paylor finished the fall with 57 carries for 653 yards, 25 receptions for 709 yards, 3 interceptions of defense and 18 total touchdowns. During his last unofficial visit to NC State, the crowd chanted his name, which made an impression on the four-star receiver.

Quote of the day

This quote is from Wolfpack safety Tanner Ingle discussing the loss to Louisville and the 2022 season as a whole.

“Going forward, obviously, it sucks that this season didn’t go how we expected it to or how we wanted it to,” Ingle said. “But, moving forward, we’ve got to continue to play football. We’ve got one more game left, we’ve got a bowl game so, moving forward, we’ve just got to go in Sunday, fix our mistakes that we made today and then move forward to UNC after this.”
