NC State offered Amaris Williams in Dec. 2022 and recruited him as a top priority in the 2024 class from there. The four-star defensive lineman released his top-five schools list Thursday night, and the Wolfpack made the cut.

Georgia, Penn State, Tennessee, Florida and NC State slotted into his list. Williams plans on announcing his decision in August and will take a few official visits in June. His trip to Raleigh is locked in for June 9-11, and he will be at Florida the following weekend, per GatorsOnline.

Wolfpack defensive line coach Charley Wiles and head coach Dave Doeren are both heavily involved in the top-10 in-state prospect’s recruitment.

“Coach Wiles hits me up every day,” Williams said. “I talk to him a lot, so I would feel comfortable if I was to go there.”

“[Doeren is] just telling me that they would love for me to come there,” Williams said. “[I would be] a big part of their program if I was to come to State. They’re recruiting me pretty hard.”

The On3 Industry Ranking considers Williams the No. 239 recruit in the country, the No. 26 defensive lineman and the No. 6 prospect in North Carolina. NC State leads his Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 44.1 percent.

NC State quote of the day

This quote is from four-star class of 2025 athlete Darrell Johnson, discussing his interest in the Wolfpack.

“The most interesting thing they told me was they had a hockey game, and they did in the football stadium,” Johnson said. “That sounded cool. That interested me a lot, but I do want to go there and see the football facility, go around campus and just get a vibe.”
