NC State vs. Stanford game notes
– This is the first-ever meeting between NC State and Stanford. The Cardinal have never played inside Carter-Finley Stadium and it will be the only time Stanford does until it returns during the 2030 season. NC State will visit Paolo Alto, Calif., during the 2026 campaign.
– Freshman quarterback CJ Bailey has thrown for 300 passing yards in each of the last two games. He’s the first true freshman to do that at NC State since Philip Rivers did it in 2000. Bailey is the only true freshman in the country to log multiple such efforts this fall.
– Former Pack linebacker Payton Wilson will be inducted into the Wolfpack’s Ring of Honor before kickoff. He won the Butkus and Bednarik Awards last season, while earning the 2023 ACC Defensive Player of the Year honor and was a unanimous first-team All-American. Wilson will be the 13th member of the elite group of former NC State players.
