Dawson joined the starting lineup at Purdue on Jan. 13 after Juwan Gary suffered a season-ending shoulder injury the game prior vs. Illinois.

He started the next eight games but was eventually moved back off the bench. Dawson played a total of 14 minutes in five appearances the rest of the season.

Dawson averaged 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 28 appearances this year.

The former Southern California Academy post-grad product joined Nebraska as a mid-year enrollee in December 2021. He redshirted in the spring but was able to practice with the team for the rest of the season.

Dawson joins redshirt freshman center Oleg Kojenets, who entered the portal on Tuesday, as NU’s second offseason departure.

The Huskers now have four open scholarships to fill for 2023-24.

NU currently has one 2023 signee in IMG (Florida) Academy wing Eli Rice.
