New Mexico forward Josiah Allick hit the transfer portal this spring, looking for the best fit for his final college season.

As it turned out, the Lincoln, Nebraska, native decided that fit was back home.

Allick, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound senior, announced his commitment to the Huskers on Tuesday.

The former 2019 standout at Lincoln North Star officially visited NU during the football spring game weekend of April 21. He also visited San Diego State and Southern Illinois.

Allick will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Allick returns home as a Husker

After starting his college career at Missouri-Kansas City, Allick transferred to New Mexico this past offseason. He started all 34 games for the Lobos and ranked second in the Mountain West Conference with 7.3 rebounds per game and 8.4 points.

Allick averaged 15.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg during his final season at UMKC, leading the Summit League with a 57.3 field goal percentage.

It also helped that Allick’s younger sister, Bekka Allick, is a sophomore middle blocker on the Nebraska volleyball team.

His commitment marks the Huskers’ second in as many days, as Allick follows Iowa transfer point guard Ahron Ulis, who joined NU on Monday. Nebraska now has one available scholarship for the 2023-24 season.

The Huskers also added commitments from Bradley transfer Rienk Mast and Charlotte guard Brice Williams. 2023 IMG Academy (Florida) wing Eli Rice signed in November.

Along with departing seniors Derrick WalkerSam Griesel, and Emmanuel Bandoumel, NU lost redshirt freshmen Denim DawsonQuaran McPherson, and Oleg Kojenets to the portal.
