Plenty of things have happened in the last 24-48 hours for Nebraska. Nebraska attended a local high school game last night to see one of their 2023 commitments. One of the many visitors planning on coming in this weekend will not be in Lincoln after suffering an injury last night. A refreshed list of visitors confirmed in Lincoln this weekend from Michigan and Tennessee.

Huskers check out Knutson

Earlier this week, I noted that three of the 2023 commitments hadn’t seen the Nebraska staff yet. It’s been some bad timing with Brock Knutson, but the Huskers finally got over to Waverly to see the offensive tackle commitment.

Knutson’s first game was in Lincoln at Lincoln Pius X. However, Nebraska was on the road. Abroad in fact. The Huskers had already left for Dublin to face Northwestern and missed that opportunity.

There are just two commitments that Nebraska haven’t had a chance to go see now. William Watson is expecting Nebraska’s offensive coordinator Mark Whipple to come see him play on Nebraska’s second bye week.

The other is Barry Jackson. From the sound of things Nebraska is planning on spending a lot of time in Georgia and in particular the Atlanta area during the second bye week just like with Watson.

Demitrius Bell update

On3’s Ole Miss site was in attendance last night to check out Demitrius Bell. He had a night. He saw time at receiver, returner, and even quarterback. At the end of the night, he didn’t have much to say to anyone because his team came up short and lost. I did confirm this morning, though, that he is not in Lincoln. He broke his hand last night and could not make the trip.

Additional out of state recruits in town

Earlier this week, we ran a visitor preview. Several recruits from Michigan and Tennessee were already supposed to be in town. Bell is out, and that takes away from it some, but the Nebraska staff is hosting a couple of new names this weekend to keep an eye out for:

Boo Carter, S, 6-0/180, Chattanooga (Tenn.) Christian School

Jacob Oden, S, 6-0.5/185, Harper Woods (Mich.)

Jaylen Thompson, CB, 6-0/175, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale

Jeremiah Beasley, LB, 6-1/210, Belleville (Mich.)

Marcus Goree, ATH, 6-1/170, Cleveland (Tenn.) Bradley Central

Stephen Ellison, S, 5-11/180, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland

Tarrion Grant, WR, 6-4/175, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Siegel

Some notes on Beasley and Oden

Jeremiah Beasley and Jacob Oden picked up their offers from Nebraska just a week ago. Here are some quick quotes from both about the offer from the Huskers:

“Nebraska texted one of my coaches that they were interested in me and they wanted to offer,” Beasley said. “It was a blessing to get an offer from them. Coach Applewhite is the coach that offered me.

“We didn’t get a chance to talk really so I am looking forward to meeting them this weekend. I have been to Michigan and Michigan State. I am also planning on going to Tennessee and a couple of other schools.”

“When Nebraska offered it was my first time hearing from them,” Oden said. “I was happy that a Big Ten school was offering. I was very excited about that. Coach Bryan Applewhite was the coach that reached out to me to offer.

“I think that they are recruiting me as a cornerback. I will talk to them more about that. Besides Nebraska this weekend I have been to Michigan and Pitt for a game. I am doing to the Penn State white out and Cincinnati soon.”

Huskers hosting newly offered 2024 OT

There is a big need in the 2024 class for offensive tackles. The Huskers recently offered Grant Brix from Logan (Iowa) Logan-Magnolia HS. Brix has been receiving new offers every week and Nebraska just recently joined the party for Brix. Brick has been to Iowa State and Kansas State so far this fall for a game and says that there are plans to visit more schools after this weekend to Nebraska.
