Now 9-0, Nebraska basketball cracks the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2018
Off to its second-best start in program history, Nebraska improved to a perfect 9-0 with a 71-50 blowout of in-state rival Creighton on Sunday.
As a result, the Huskers finally returned to the Associated Press Top 25 rankings this week for the first time in seven years. NU made its top-25 debut on Monday at No. 23.
Nebraska also debuted at No. 22 in this week’s USA Today coaches poll.

That marks the first time the team has been ranked since being 24th the week of Dec. 31, 2018, following an 11-2 start.

It’s also Nebraska’s highest ranking since coming in at No. 21 the week of Nov. 17, 2014, and just the seventh week it’s been ranked since 1995. This is only the 35th week NU has been ranked in program history.
NU’s next test this season comes on Wednesday night with its Big Ten Conference opener vs. Wisconsin. A win would improve Nebraska to 10-0, matching its best start in program history (1978-79).
