Notre Dame is back on the road this weekend and off its familiar television home. The Irish (1-2) play at North Carolina (3-0, 0-0 ACC) Saturday, their second game away from Notre Dame Stadium this year.

Where can you watch them this week when they’re not on NBC? Three easy to remember letters: ABC.

The Irish and Tar Heels meet for the third straight season and kick off at 3:30 p.m. inside Kenan Memorial Stadium. Any basic cable package or streaming platform has ABC. It will also be available on Watch ESPN, which requires login information for a cable subscription to access.

ABC’s broadcast team for the game is Bob Wischusen (play-by-play), Dan Orlovsky (color analyst) and Kris Budden (reporter).

Notre Dame and North Carolina began this run of three matchups in three years on Black Friday in 2020. The Irish won 31-17 in a top-25 matchup that averaged a 3.6 rating and drew 6.08 million viewers on ABC. The two teams played Oct. 30, 2021 in South Bend, a 44-34 Notre Dame victory. That game drew a 1.3 rating and 2.35 million viewers on NBC, the network’s least-viewed primetime Irish football broadcast since a 2011 game vs. Maryland.

The last Notre Dame game televised on ABC should stand as one of the season’s most-viewed contests. The Irish’s 21-10 loss to Ohio State Sept. 3 garnered 10.5 million viewers, which was more than all but one FBS regular-season contest last season. It’s now the No. 2 most watched this season after the Sept. 10 Alabama vs. Texas game drew 10.6 million viewers.

Notre Dame’s 24-17 home win over Cal Sept. 17 posted a 1.7 and had 2.91 million viewers. Its 26-21 home loss to Marshall one week totaled 2.48 million with a 1.4 rating.
