Noting Notre Dame: It very much feels like win this game and the Irish are still in the College Football Playoff, but there is still a doomsday scenario that could keep them out. At any rate, you want your last data point for the CFP committee to consider to be a strong one. In other words, you want to win this game more like you did the Syracuse game than you did the Boston College game if you’re the Irish. Leave nothing to wonder the wrong way about.
Noting Stanford: The Cardinal have one more win than they had in each of the previous four seasons. So, with Andrew Luck as the general manager and Frank Reich as the one-year holdover general manager, there has been progress for Stanford in the last year. But it’s still a 4-7 team with some lopsided losses this season, so Notre Dame should be able to leave no doubt and retain the Legends Trophy.
