Notre Dame should have a player picked in the first round of the NFL Draft for the second year in a row tonight. Tight end Michael Mayer has been widely predicted to be a first-round selection for quite some time now.

He might have to wait a while Thursday for his moment, though.

Mayer’s sweet spot is viewed as the second-half of the first round. He’ll be with friends and family in Independence, Ky., watching on TV just like everyone else who is anxiously anticipating where the most decorated tight end in Notre Dame history will begin his professional career.

First round coverage starts Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET. It can be viewed on NFL Network, ESPN, ABC and ESPN Deportes.

Rich Eisen will host NFL Network’s coverage joined by draft expert Daniel Jeremiah, analyst Charles Davis, former Stanford head coach David Shaw, Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, FOX Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt and NFL Network inside Ian Rapoport. Melissa Stark will handle interview duties with draftees.

On ESPN, Mike Greenberg will host for the third year in a row. He’ll be joined by longtime NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr., analysts Louis Riddick and Booger McFarland, reporter Suzy Kolber and insiders Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter.

College GameDay host Rece Davis will host on ABC. He’ll be joined by NFL Draft senior analyst Todd McShay and analysts Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit. Former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback and 2012 second-round NFL Draft pick Robert Griffin III and Sam Ponder will be on a second set for ABC.

Eduardo Varela and Pablo Viruega will be live in Bristol, Conn., with coverage in Spanish for ESPN Deportes. They’ll be joined by Sebastián M. Christensen and Miguel Pasquel. Katia Castorena is the on site reporter.

Listeners can hear the first round of the NFL Draft on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Westwood One Sports and ESPN Radio.

Mayer will be the 26th tight end taken from Notre Dame all-time. No program has ever had more tight ends chosen in the NFL Draft. Mayer had 180 catches, 2,099 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in three seasons at Notre Dame. No Notre Dame tight end has ever put up better numbers in any of those categories.
