On3 updated its 2023 On300 rankings just a couple months ago, so Monday’s update is not a big one, but there are changes made from the offseason camp circuit. But for the most part, this is not a notable rankings update from a Notre Dame perspective.

“This is not an exhaustive overhaul of the On300 like the last update,” On3 director of scouting and rankings Charles Power wrote. “The vast majority of prospects in the On300 were not actively moved and saw their rating unchanged. With that said, there was some movement throughout the ranking with risers and 20 new entrants. We also added ratings to hundreds of prospects in the three-star ranks.”

Notre Dame has five commitments in the On300, headlined by Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep’s Keon Keeley, who remains as the No. 3 overall prospect nationally and No. 1 EDGE in the 2023 class. On3 ranks Keeley the highest among the four major media recruiting websites.

The only prospects ranked higher than Keeley in the On300 are quarterbacks Arch Manning and Malachi Nelson (USC commit), respectively.

Denton (Texas) Guyer’s Peyton Bowen saw a nice jump into the top 40 of the On3 rankings in February, and his ranking remains the same other than sliding down one spot. Bowen is the nation’s No. 37 player and No. 4 safety in America per On3.

This rankings update by On3 didn’t have a ton of movement, so even when a handful of players actively move up, that means many take small slides. That was the case with Mentor (Ohio) High defensive lineman Brenan Vernon, who checks in at No. 180 nationally, a fall of just six spots. Rivals has the most favorable view of Vernon as the nation’s No. 17 player, while 247 Sports lists him at No. 195. All of this information can be found on Vernon’s industry comparison page.

Merrillville (Ind.) High linebacker Drayk Bowen saw a slide to No. 220, which is 13 spots down from the previous update. And the last Notre Dame commit in the new On3 update is Irvington (N.J.) High safety Adon Shuler, who moved up one spot to No. 288 nationally.

Notre Dame has eight commitments in its 2023 class, which ranks No. 2 nationally per the 2023 On3 Consensus.

Moves for notable Notre Dame targets

Notre Dame is in hot pursuit of two On3 five-star prospects. Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman’s Charles Jagusah remains the nation’s no. 7 overall prospect and No. 1 offensive tackle per On3. Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek’s Caleb Downs checks in as the No. 12 recruit and No. 1 safety.

Detroit Martin Luther King’s Dante Moore is priority No. 1 on the Notre Dame 2023 recruiting board. He moved up four spots to No. 45 nationally and remains the No. 4 signal-caller in America.

“Moore turned in a strong showing at the Elite 11 regional in Ohio,” said Power. “The 6-foot-2.5, 209-pounder showed off his patented quick release and polish as a passer. Moore threw with impressive timing and has continued to add velocity to his throws, particularly on short and intermediate passes.”

Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point wide receiver Braylon James, a top Notre Dame target, impressed at the Dallas Under Armour camp this spring. He saw a jump of 21 spots in On3’s rankings to No. 246.

West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial defensive lineman Boubacar Traore moved up 15 spots to No. 83 nationally, while St. Louis Christian Brothers’ Jeremiyah Love rose from No. 127 to No. 103 nationally.
