Newsstand: Where Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love lands in latest On3 Heisman Poll
Multiple sports gambling websites gave Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love the second-best odds to win the Heisman after his three-touchdown performance in a 70-7 win over Syracuse.
But the odds changed following the Stanford game, in which he was limited due to a minor injury. Love broke Notre Dame’s single-season rushing touchdown record with 21 but had a quiet night by his standards, finishing with 14 rushes for 66 yards and a score.
Because of that, his Heisman odds dropped to +1400. Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, Ohio State’s Julian Sayin and Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia have far better odds, in that order.
Each week, On3 polls its top national analysts and experts for their take on the Heisman race. Voting is done by Andy Staples, Ari Wasserman, Chris Low, Brett McMurphy, Pete Nakos, J.D. PicKell and Charles Power.
Love had been holding steady at No. 3 in the poll but dropped to No. 4 after the Stanford game. Pavia, Mendoza and Sayin land in the top three spots, in that order.

Following Love on the list are Alabama’s Ty Simpson, Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss, Oregon’s Dante Moore, Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed, Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith and Georgia’s Gunner Stockton.
The Notre Dame star is on the outside looking in to win the coveted award and seems to be on the fringe of earning an invite to New York.
Quote of the day
“Aneyas practices hard every single day, and he makes sure that he is ready for his opportunity when it comes. Every time his opportunity comes, Aneyas is ready. That just goes to how we’re trained, how we’ve got a great coach in Coach Seider and Coach Free and Coach Denbrock calling great plays for us.
“But Aneyas is the type of guy who is always prepared. You obviously see that when he goes out there and breaks off touchdowns whenever he gets his opportunity. I’m really proud of Aneyas. I kind of think of him as like my young guy. I think we’re the same age, but I love seeing Aneyas and all the other backs perform the way they want to and they get some glory.”
