At Blue & Gold, we generally use the On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — when mentioning a Notre Dame recruit’s ranking in articles. Of course, one of those media companies is On3’s own rankings.

And the On3 team updated its 2023 rankings Monday afternoon with high school seasons wrapping up across the country.

There weren’t any super notable changes in this update — just the normal risers and droppers that one comes to expect with rankings. And remember folks, we’re just looking at the Notre Dame recruits, but all schools see the same thing with committed prospect.

Before you bring out the pitchforks on the rankings, it should be noted that On3 is the only website that has Notre Dame with two five-star prospects.

Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman’s Charles Jagusah is the No. 10 overall player nationally and No. 1 offensive tackle. His national ranking dropped four spots. Denton (Texas) Guyer’s Peyton Bowen moved up a couple spots to No. 13 nationally. He’s the No. 2 safety in the land.

The Irish have a couple more players committed inside the top 100. Belmont (N.C.) South Point’s Sullivan Absher moved up three spots in the national rankings to No. 56 and is the No. 7 offensive tackle in America. St. Louis De Smet’s Christian Gray slid several spots but still ranks as the No. 93 overall prospect and No. 13 cornerback in the land.

In the category of small movement includes St. Louis Christian Brothers running back Jeremiyah Love moving up one spot in the national rankings to No. 107, Austin (Texas) Westlake receiver Jaden Greathouse falling six notches to No. 162, and Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab linebacker Jaiden Ausberry new overall ranking being No. 193, moving up 10 slots. Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean linebacker Drayk Bowen fell from No. 208 to No. 220 as well.

The more notable slides were for a pair of Irish defensive line commits. West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial’s Boubacar Traore fell from 57 spots to No. 159, while Mentor (Ohio) High’s Brenan Vernon dropped to No. 257 overall from No. 193. Traore has been injured for the majority of this season.

Derby (Kan.) High running back Dylan Edwards moved into the On300 at No. 296 nationally.

In total, Notre Dame has 11 committed players in the On300.

Hagerstown (Md.) St. James School defensive lineman Devan Houstan and Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point wide receiver Braylon James had national rankings of No. 290 and No. 282 respectivelly but fell out of the On300 rankings.

Bumps for notable Notre Dame targets

Hendersonville (Tenn.) Pope John Paul II’s Kenny Minchey, who is fresh off a Notre Dame official visit, moved up from No. 259 to No. 204 in On3’s rankings. He’s the No. 17 quarterback in America.

Portsmouth (Va.) Churchland athlete Brandyn Hillman received a bump from three- to four-star status and now ranks as the No. 291 overall prospect in America.
