New Notre Dame WR target Devin Fitzgerald sets official visits and commitment date

New Notre Dame football recruiting target Devin Fitzgerald has finalized his summer plans.
On Friday, the Phoenix Brophy College Prep wide receiver from the 2026 class told Rivals he has five official visits scheduled and a commitment date set for July 5. Fitzgerald, the son of 11-time Pro Bowl WR Larry Fitzgerald, will visit Notre Dame the weekend of June 13.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect also has official visits lined up with UCLA (May 16), Clemson (May 30), Stanford (June 6), and North Carolina (June 20). He plans to visit Arizona State on a date yet to be determined. He has announced scholarship offers from every one of those programs besides Clemson.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — Fitzgerald is a three-star prospect who ranks as the No. 4 player in Arizona, No. 79 wide receiver nationally and No. 504 overall player in the 2026 class.
In addition to the schools he plans to officially visit, Fitzgerald has 13 other Power Four offers. Michigan, Florida State, Duke and Pittsburgh are among the schools that have extended him a scholarship.
Details on Devin Fitzgerald’s Notre Dame football recruitment
Fitzgerald has been on Notre Dame’s radar for over a year. He comes from the same school that produced Irish freshman cornerback Cree Thomas, a 2025 class recruit. So when the Irish would go to Brophy College Prep to check in on Thomas, they would also keep tabs on Fitzgerald.
The top pass-catcher in the Grand Canyon State unofficially visited Notre Dame three times before landing an offer from the program on May 8. The Irish immediately became a contender for his commitment.

“I’ve been trying to get the offer for a while,” Fitzgerald told Blue & Gold. “It’s definitely exciting and relieving to get the offer I’ve been trying to get for a while. It means a lot. But I still have work to do.”
Fitzgerald caught 52 passes for 720 yards (13.8 yards per catch) and 9 touchdowns as a junior. The Arizona Interscholastic Association recognized Fitzgerald as a 6A second-team all-region selection. Notre Dame’s coaching staff has high expectations for him heading into his senior year.
“They said my best football is yet to come, and felt they needed to offer me after that spring ball practice,” Fitzgerald said. “They’ve seen I’ve gotten a lot faster and more explosive, which is why they could offer now.”
In addition to Fitzgerald and Thomas, the Irish have recruited Brophy College Prep before. In 2022, they signed four-star cornerback Benjamin Morrison, who developed into a second-round NFL Draft pick in three years in South Bend.
