St. Joseph (Ill.) Ogden’s Cameron Wagner, the No. 164 prospect and No. 15 offensive tackle in the country per the Rivals Industry Ranking, is a longtime key target for Notre Dame in the 2027 class, and he’s scheduled to return to South Bend next month.

He’ll visit on March 21, which is for Notre Dame’s offseason junior day recruiting event. It’s going to be one of the Irish’s biggest recruiting weekends of the year, with a couple dozen big-time recruits expected to be in South Bend.

Wagner added that he has the following spring trips planned: Auburn March 17, LSU March 24, Ohio State March 28, Oregon April 4 and Wisconsin April 11. He’s also planning to see nearby Illinois, which is about a 20-minute drive from his high school.

Blue & Gold logged a prediction for Wagner to commit to Notre Dame last October, and his visit next month will mark his fourth trip to South Bend as a recruit. His most recent trip was last September for the Texas A&M game, and he was in town for the staff’s Irish Invasion camp last June. About a week and a half after receiving his offer from Notre Dame last March, he also visited for a spring practice.

Wagner is a top overall target for Notre Dame in the 2027 class. On the first day the Notre Dame staff hit the road to recruit during the January contact period, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph visited Wagner.

“It shows that I am on the top of their board,” Wagner recently said of their visit. “We had some really good conversations.”

The staff is making Wagner feel like a major priority.

“It’s been going really well,” Wagner said regarding his process with the Irish. “I’m in contact with Coach [Mike] Denbrock, Coach Freeman, Coach Rob [Delaney] and Coach Rudolph and all of the coaches. We’re in weekly contact. Since their season ended, we’ve been in contact even more. It’s going great.

“Their recruiting pitch to me — especially from Coach Rudolph — has been how they think I’m a perfect fit there and will thrive,” Wagner continued. “I connect well with their 2026 and 2027 commits; it shows how I’d be a good fit there and have a good career. That’s Coach Rudolph’s pitch to me; he really wants me to be a part of their class.

“He’s said that he’d happily take my commitment right now, but if it’s several months from now, he’s still going to be recruiting me.”

Wagner plans to take summer official visits and commit to a school before his senior year.
