Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day class of 2024 wide receiver Bredell Richardson narrowed his recruitment down to eight schools on Saturday evening.

Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Tennessee make up his favorite programs at this point in the recruiting process.

“These schools have shown they believe in me and I feel each gives me an opportunity to get to the next level,” Richardson told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I have visited each school other than Colorado and Tennessee, and I feel I can fit in well at any of these schools.

“It was difficult to get down to eight. I have been recruited since the eighth grade, so it has been a long process, so it feels good to get down to these eight. I feel good about this list and I see myself picking one of these schools when I make my decision.”

Moving forward for the four-star talent, Richardson plans to make his commitment to a program before the start of the football season.

“I may only take some of my official visits, then make a decision,” said Richardson. “I am not sure how long I will need before I make a decision, but a decision could come fairly soon. The thing I know for sure is, I will commit before my senior season.”

Notre Dame a major factor for Richardson

The 6-0, 190-pounder hasn’t visited Notre Dame since the summer of 2022, but the Fighting Irish staff regularly keeps in contact with Richardson. He’s expected to use one of his five official visits to see Notre Dame.

“Coach (MarcusFreeman is a great coach,” Richardson said. “I love what he is doing with the program. Notre Dame is just different and I like different. Notre Dame is a different culture, a different type of program, and it would be cool to be different and leave Florida to get up there.”

Irish receivers coach Chansi Stuckey is leading the charge for Notre Dame in Richardson’s recruitment.

“We probably talk close to every day,” Richardson said of Stuckey. “We have a great relationship. We talk about life a lot more than football. We’ll talk about things are going.”

Richardson ranks as the No. 129 overall prospect and No. 22 wide receiver nationally per the 2024 On3 Consensus. He sits at No. 21 in the overall Florida state rankings.

Per On3’s own rankings, Richardson is the No. 264 recruit and No. 36 receiver in America, plus the No. 34 player in the Sunshine State.

According to MaxPreps, Richardson caught 21 passes for 405 yards and 3 touchdowns across nine games during his junior season. He’s been productive through his first three years of high school ball, catching 65 passes for 1,328 yards and 14 touchdowns.
