2024 No. 2 DL Justin Scott postpones commitment

Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius four-star defensive lineman Justin Scott was set to commit on January 31, but he wants to take more time with his recruitment.

Scott announced that he will be postponing his announcement to a later date.

He is the No. 20 overall prospect and No. 3 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 overall prospect in Illinois.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound defender recently revealed a top eight of Alabama, Colorado, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and USC. He spoke with On3 earlier this month about why those schools made the cut.

“All eight schools, I could see me coming in, being a factor immediately and being able to (have an) impact as soon as I enroll there,” Scott said. All eight have a common factor of putting dominant d-linemen in the NFL and also just (being) able to develop d-linemen into absolute monsters.”

Justin Scott On3 Scouting Summary

“Naturally gifted defensive tackle with rare movement skills at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds. One of the more unique jumbo athletes early on in the 2024 cycle. A twitchy, explosive athlete who runs like a much smaller player. Chases down plays from the back side and runs sideline-to-sideline with ease. A loose, fluid mover with natural flexibility. Shows his natural explosion as a finisher. New to football, playing his first season at the varsity level as a sophomore. Has a background as a soccer and basketball player. Will need to continue developing from a technical aspect, particularly with his hands. Rapid ascension and quick improvement point to a high ceiling.”
