Boston College graduate student defensive back Jaiden Woodbey lit up when asked about the chance to play at a storied venue like Notre Dame Stadium. He lit up.

“Notre Dame’s facility, they have the best away locker rooms I’ve ever seen,” Woodbey told local reporters. “Their field is phenomenal. It’s one of my favorite fields to ever play on. Going back there for the third time, that will be nice.”

Here’s everything else Woodbey and other BC players said about Notre Dame.

Graduate student defensive back Jaiden Woodbey

On Notre Dame junior tight end Michael Mayer: “He’s like a freak of nature to be that big and move that well, catch that good.”

On having the chance to cover Mayer: “It’s a great opportunity for me. That’s what I’m viewing it as, going against one of the best. I’m excited.”

On playing on the road at Notre Same Stadium: “When you play away games sometimes it’s a little more fun because you know all the odds are stacked against you. Especially last week. We had, what, a 9% chance to win? Three-touchdown underdog. We were down 14-0 in the first quarter. It was all going according to plan for them. We never had a doubt in our mind we were going to win that game. For us to actually do it, we were so elated and overjoyed.”

On conversations with tight end George Takacs about going back to Notre Dame: “Similar when we went to FSU, just make sure it is not bigger than what it actually is. It’s just the next game. We prepare every week like it’s just football. Take the same amount of detail and preparation that you have been doing for the last couple of weeks.”

On if he ever watched Rudy: “Yeah, I watched Rudy. That was a good one.”

On if he’s aware of the “ghosts” that inhabit Notre Dame Stadium: “I don’t know. That would be interesting if that was the case.”

On returning to Notre Dame: “I’m excited for a lot of reasons. I played there for four years. I have great relationships with a lot of guys on the team still. I’m excited to go back, and I’m excited to compete against them. And it’s also a big game. We have another ranked matchup this week on the road. Excited to get after it.”

On facing a fourth ranked team in the last six weeks: “That’s the beauty of playing in the ACC. It’s one of the best conferences in football. We know we are going to play elite teams every week. That’s an awesome opportunity. A lot of teams don’t get the chance to play these big-time teams in big-time games. I’m excited.”

On Mayer: “He’s a good guy. I’ve been pretty close with him since he came in. For me, it’s going to be kind of cool to go head-to-head against him. He’s fun to be around.”

Graduate student defensive back Elijah Jones

On playing on the road at NC State and now Notre Dame: “Atmospheres, especially for teams like those, are always great. It was a senior night game for them. A sold out crowd for them. There is nothing more exciting for me to be in a sold-out arena and be able to hear a pin drop. I feel like for this game coming up, there is a lot more meaning behind it as well. It’s just another game, but at the same time in the back of your mind you know it’s another big one.”
