It was an entertaining and informative show, as the guys debated recent headlines:

— Mike and Tim discussed the “best thing they saw this week” in the world of Notre Dame sports and here’s a hint: Mike’s answer was sarcastic.

— The Fighting Irish picked up help along the interior of their defensive line in the form of a graduate transfer. Harvard nose guard Chris Smith announced his intentions to play for Notre Dame Wednesday. What’s the impact of the news, and what is the scouting report on him?

— Mike caught up with former Notre Dame quarterback Rick Mirer to talk Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner, the Irish scheduling Tennessee State, game day mass returning and more. Don’t miss this interview.

— The guys debated whether scheduling ND’s first FCS opponent is a good or bad thing for Irish football.

— To wrap up, the guys talked about the news of Cincinnati La Salle running back Gi’Bran Payne scheduling an official visit to Notre Dame for this weekend. Will the Irish land him? Would this be a good take?

Tim Hyde on the addition of Chris Smith for Notre Dame

“I like him because No. 1, Notre Dame needs some interior guys. He’s going to play one year; how does this guy hurt your football team? He gives you 20-25 snaps a game to go along with [Howard] Cross, [Jacob] Lacey and Jayson [Ademolola] inside. He’s quick as can be. If he’s a legit 290 and a little bowling ball in there and gives you two dozen snaps per game, it’s great. He’s not soft. He’s not slow. And people need to understand — Ivy League football is good football. People need to keep that in mind.”
