Notre Dame men’s basketball continues to add pieces to its 2022-23 non-conference schedule. The latest is another neutral site game.

The Irish will play Georgia in Atlanta at State Farm Arena on Dec. 18, BlueandGold.com has confirmed. The news was first reported by the South Bend Tribune. It’s part of the annual Holiday Hoopsgiving doubleheader in Atlanta.

The game will be the fourth all-time meeting between Notre Dame and Georgia and first since 2011. The Irish hold a 2-1 edge in the series and lost the last matchup 61-57, which was played on a neutral court in Kansas City, Mo. in November 2011. They beat the Bulldogs 89-83 in November 2010 in Orlando, Fla. Notre Dame also won at Georgia in 1994.

Georgia went 6-26 last season, which tied for the second-fewest wins by any team in a Power Five conference or the Big East. The Bulldogs were 1-17 in the SEC and finished 219th in the KenPom rankings. They made a coaching change after the season, ousting Tom Crean (47-75 in four years) and hiring Florida head coach Mike White to replace him.

Eight of the 11 games on Notre Dame’s non-conference schedule are publicly known. The Irish will reportedly host Radford Nov. 10 and Youngstown State on Nov. 13. Southern Indiana (date TBD) – a new Division I program this season – and Bowling Green (Nov. 22) will come to Purcell Pavilion as part of the Gotham Classic. Notre Dame’s main Gotham Classic game is Nov. 25 vs. St. Bonaventure at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, N.Y.

The Irish will also play at Michigan State Nov. 30 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and host Marquette Dec. 11 in the start of a home-and-home series.

Two previously scheduled games or events are no longer on the 2022-23 slate.

The final game of the three-year series between Notre Dame and Kentucky was set for a neutral site this season, but that has reportedly been pushed back to 2023-24. The Irish and Wildcats played each of the past two seasons, 2020 in Lexington, Ky. and 2021 in South Bend.

The Crossroads Classic doubleheader in Indianapolis featuring Notre Dame, Indiana, Purdue and Butler ended after 11 seasons.
