Notre Dame put itself in the running for 2023 four-star Bixby (Okla.) guard Parker Friedrichsen with an offer Monday night, the latest step in its ramped-up pursuit of him in recent weeks. Three days later, the Irish saw another sign he’s highly interested in them too.

Friedrichsen included Notre Dame in his top five Thursday night, he announced on social media. The other four teams in it are Davidson, Northwestern, Rice and Nebraska. He has also scheduled official visits to all five, he told On3’s Joe Tipton, with Notre Dame up first Aug. 26-28. Davidson (Aug. 30-Sept. 1), Rice (Sept. 2-4), Nebraska (Sept. 9-11) and Northwestern (Sept. 16-18) are set to follow.

The 6-foot-4, 165-pound Friedrichsen caught Notre Dame’s eye this summer while playing with his AAU team, KC Run GMC, on the Under Armour circuit. The Irish watched him all week at the Under Armour finals in Chicago during the second July live evaluation period. Head coach Mike Brey saw him play on the final day. The Notre Dame staff ramped up contact right after.

“They are a newer school,” Friedrichsen told On3’s Jamie Shaw earlier this month. “[Associate head] coach [Anthony] Solomon started talking to me in Chicago, and interest is picking up very quickly. An official visit has been brought up. I love the system, and the ACC is traditionally very good.”

All told, Friedrichsen averaged 19.3 points and 2.9 assists per game during the two July live periods. He shot 43.6 percent on 3-pointers.

“I showed I could play more of the PG spot with the ball in my hands and make plays for my teammates, while also being pretty efficient in the pick and roll,” Friedrichsen told Shaw.

Friedrichsen is the No. 115 player and No. 26 shooting guard in the 2023 On3 Consensus. He’s a four-star prospect and ranked No. 104 overall in the On3 Top 150. He reset his recruitment when he decommitted from Oklahoma State in May. He took five junior year official visits: Oklahoma State, Creighton, Nebraska, Iowa and Purdue.

Since reopening, Friedrichsen added offers from Davidson DePaul, SMU, Memphis, Marshall, Missouri, Northwestern, San Francisco and Xavier in addition to Notre Dame. He took June unofficial visits to Davidson and Xavier.

Notre Dame has one commitment in its 2023 class, Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn guard Markus Burton. The Irish’s 2023 board lost two names earlier this week when Mount Pleasant (Utah) Wasatch Academy four-star guard RJ Jones committed to Kansas State Sunday and Worcester Academy (Mass.) four-star forward TJ Power left Notre Dame out of his top five Monday.
