Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South’s Cam Williams, the nation’s No. 162 overall player and No. 27 wide receiver according to the 2024 On3 Consensus, added a new offer from Notre Dame on Thursday.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees was in Kansas City this week and made it over to Chicagoland Thursday. He made a stop at Williams’ high school, and the result of that was Williams receiving the good news from the Irish coach.

“I think it is important because it creates a staple of the type of player and person I am to be able to have an offer from such a great school and program,” Williams told Blue & Gold about receiving the offer.

When asked about what he knows and likes about Notre Dame, he went right away to his relationships with the Fighting Irish staff. He was on campus April 2 and had a good time with them.

“The coaches for sure,” he said. “I’ve met and talked with [Marcus] Freeman, [Chansi] Stuckey, [Deland] McCullough and [Tommy] Rees and they’re all great guys. Along with the environment on game day and the overall culture of not only the football but the school is phenomenal in my opinion.”

Williams has gotten a firsthand experience of the Notre Dame game-day environment, as he saw the Irish battle Cincinnati last October.

The 6-2, 175-pounder added that he’s planning on taking some visits later this month and/or in early June, plus camping at a few schools this summer. We expect Notre Dame to host Williams at some point soon.

Williams on his April Notre Dame visit

“For the this visit, I got to do a lot of newer things that I didn’t get to do last time,” Williams told BlueandGold.com. “I got to be a part of a position meeting, which was a great experience — seeing how the receiver room operates and how they’re taught.

“I got to watch practice, which was intense. The guys were going after it, which was exciting. I had a great tour of the campus. Notre Dame is really nice. I got to see the entire stadium, facilities and what it’s like to be a normal student there. Overall, it was a really great visit.”

Williams even got to meet Irish head coach Marcus Freeman.

“I talked to him briefly; he’s a great guy,” Williams said. “I really like him.”

Michigan is listed as the leader for Williams according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 88.2 percent. The RPM heavily swayed towards the Wolverines due to an insider prediction logged for him.
