It was a big weekend — in numerous ways — for one of Notre Dame‘s top targets in the 2023 class.

Five-star quarterback Dante Moore made the short drive from his home in Detroit to outside of Canton, Ohio to participate in the Elite 11 regional. Of course, he impressed. While there, he earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals, which is the premier quarterback competition for high schoolers and will take place in Los Angeles this summer.

The 6-2, 195-pound quarterback also touched on his Notre Dame relationships as his recruitment continues.

“The type of bond we have is just incredible,” Moore said of his relationship with Notre Dame offensive coordinator and former Irish signal-caller Tommy Rees. “I really appreciate that from him.”

According to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Moore is the No. 4 quarterback, No. 1 recruit from Michigan and No. 9 player nationally in the 2023 class. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Notre Dame has an 84 percent chance to land him.

Blue & Gold’s Mike Singer has additional details on Moore’s weekend as well as the latest on his recruitment here.

Quote of the weekend

“A couple days ago, I was standing in the (graduate assistant) office. It was myself, Coach Freeman and Coach (Mike) Mickens in there. We were really just kind of chopping it up, and I took a moment as I was walking out the office and said ‘I wonder how many places across the country you have the head coach standing in the GA office, talking to them like they’re his peers.’ I think that’s a testament to Coach Freeman and not wavering on who he is. That’s pretty cool to see from my own vantage point.”
