It’s nearly NCAA Tournament time for Notre Dame women’s basketball, and Fighting Irish fans close to campus might want to start thinking about blocking off the first weekend of the big dance.

ESPN women’s basketball bracketologist Charlie Creme released his latest bracket Tuesday, and it had No. 14 Notre Dame (20-6, 12-4 ACC) as a No. 4 seed. If that holds, head coach Niele Ivey and the Irish will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament at Purcell Pavilion — a venue the Irish have not lost at all season (12-0).

The Irish have two regular season home games (Thursday vs. Clemson, Sunday vs. No. 4 Louisville) remaining before the ACC Tournament begins on March 2. The first round of the NCAA Tournament gets going on March 18 after first four games on March 16 and 17.

The Notre Dame men’s basketball team is in a good position to go dancing, too, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. The Irish have above an 85% chance of making the tournament for the first time since 2017.

Tuesday’s date was the ultimate palindrome — 2/22/22 — so the official Notre Dame football account had some fun with it in showing off Logan Diggs‘ spectacular hurdle against Virginia.

Quote of the day

“Coach Al Washington is amazing. He’s a great coach. He resembles everything in a defensive line coach that I need. He’s energetic, active and knows what he’s talking about. He has the track record.”
