Notre Dame women’s basketball releases full 2022-23 non-conference schedule

Summer workouts wrapped up this week for Notre Dame women’s basketball. Two days later, the program announced its 2022-23 non-conference schedule.

The season is inching closer day by day.

Notre Dame has an exhibition against Truman State on Oct. 31. Head coach Niele Ivey‘s team will get a week off before opening the season against Northern Illinois on Nov. 7. Both of those matchups will take place in South Bend at Purcell Pavilion. Notre Dame will play in a neutral site game against an opponent to be named later on Nov. 12, according to the university.

The Irish’s first road test comes Nov. 16 at Northwestern. Then they’ll return home for a game against Ball State on Nov. 20. It’s off to Bimini, Bahamas, for the 2022 Goombay Splash after that. Notre Dame will play American on Nov. 24 and Arizona State on Nov. 25 or Nov. 26. If the Irish beat American, it’ll be the latter. With a loss, it’ll be the former.

Notre Dame hosts Maryland in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 1. The Irish stay home to host UConn on Dec. 4 in the Women’s Jimmy V Classic. The second true road game of the season will come in Easton, Pa., against Lafayette on Dec. 8. Notre Dame has home games against Merrimack College on Dec. 10 and Western Michigan on Dec. 21 sandwiched around the first ACC game of the season on Dec. 18. The opponent and location for that game will also be announced at a later date.

Notre Dame went 24-9 in 2021-22 with a trip to the Sweet 16 after not appearing in the NCAA Tournament since 2019. Ivey is entering her third season at the helm and has a record of 34-19. The Irish were 13-5 in the ACC last season and 13-1 at home with the lone loss coming to Louisville.
