Notre Dame football gets a breather this weekend. The Fighting Irish have a bye week after a four-week stretch to start the 2022 season that included a bit of everything.

Notre Dame started the season with a relatively narrow home loss to then-No. 2 Ohio State. They followed that performance up with an inexplicable 26-21 home loss to unranked Marshall. They’ve won their last two games, 24-17 over California at home and 45-32 over North Carolina on the road.

What to make of it all? Find out at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday when BlueandGold.com Notre Dame beat writers Tyler Horka and Patrick Engel break down the Irish’s 2-2 start in a YouTube live show.

What’s next for Notre Dame football

Notre Dame coaches and players are not being made available to the media during the bye week. Head coach Marcus Freeman will return to the podium at Notre Dame Stadium for his weekly press conference on Monday, Oct. 3, at noon ET.

Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, defensive coordinator Al Golden and select Irish players meet with the media every Tuesday evening. Freeman gives a final update at noon Thursday before it will be off to Las Vegas for BYU vs. Notre Dame.

In the meantime, the Irish are expected to practice three to four times this week before coaches will hit the recruiting trail for in-person, coast-to-coast high school football action this weekend.
