COLUMBUS — There was one goal for Landon Samson as he set up his Ohio State visit last weekend: Earn an offer from the Buckeyes.

That hasn’t happened — yet.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wideout reportedly left a good impression on the Ohio State coaching staff. The school and the football program also left a good impression on him.

“It was a great experience,” Samson told Lettermen Row. “The facilities are amazing. I really enjoyed talking and learning from Brian Hartline. He might be one of the best receiver coaches in the game right now, and he definitely helped elevate my game and prepare me.”

Hartline also prepared Samson for a bit of a wait when it comes to what happens next. Ohio State has three receivers committed and could take a fourth in the 2022 class, but it may not be cut-and-dried because roster management rarely is.

“They liked what I did,” he said. “I could help the room in the future after some of the guys leave. In the next couple of weeks the NCAA will let them know about offers for super seniors. We’ll see how that works, but I should know something soon.”

Samson was in town with his high school teammate Quinn Ewers. The pair got a chance to see the city of Columbus a bit, and Samson was impressed by what he saw.

“It was a great city,” Landon Samson said. “Really great people. I loved the campus too, it was very beautiful.”

Nebraska is the only other school Samson has visited to this point. The Cornhuskers are one of his 18 scholarship offers and appear to be in the driver’s seat in his recruitment now.

That could change with an Ohio State offer. For now, Landon Samson has to remain patient and keep building the relationship with the Buckeyes.
