COLUMBUS – Ohio State rang in the Fourth of July with a boom of its own. The Buckeyes celebrated the holiday weekend by landing J.T. Tuimoloau, the No. 1-ranked prospect in the country according to 247Sports.com in the class of 2021 on Sunday. His commitment makes him the highest-ranked defensive recruit to ever commit to Ohio State, taking the title away from his new teammate, Jack Sawyer.

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by Lettermen Row Director of Recruiting Jeremy Birmingham, Nicole Cox from Roosters and former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter to talk about the elite talent Ohio State just gained on the defensive line and more from the world of Buckeyes athletics.

Tuimoloau’s decision has been a long time coming. The 6-foot-5, 277-pound defensive lineman from Eastside Catholic (Sammamish, Wash.) had a prolonged recruitment due to COVID-19, pushing back his commitment until he was able to take on-campus visits last month. Ohio State beat out Oregon, USC, Washington and Alabama for Tuimoloau, and the Buckeyes now have their best recruiting class in the internet recruiting era. He will now enroll at Ohio State and immediately join the loaded group of Rushmen that Larry Johnson has assembled, which already includes Jack Sawyer, Tyreke Smith, Zach Harrison.

That’s not all the crew talked about at Roosters, though. As part of Linebackers Week at Lettermen Row, the crew broke down the depth of the Silver Bullets. The Buckeyes have to replace three-time captain Tuf Borland, three-year starter Pete Werner, sixth-year warrior Justin Hilliard and dynamic Baron Browning. Now Al Washington is forced to reload all at once, and Dallas Gant and Teradja Mitchell will have to rise into leadership roles.

Don’t miss this loaded episode, and don’t forget to grab the $2 appetizers from Roosters every Tuesday at all Roosters locations.
