Jack Sawyer gives Ohio State a 28-14 lead on a scoop-and-score touchdown

On 4th-and-goal from the Ohio State eight yard line defensive end Jack Sawyer stripped Quinn Ewers and retuned it 83 yards to end-zone for a touchdown. The Buckeyes take a 28-14 lead over the Longhorns with 2:13 remaining in the game.

The Buckeyes take a 21-14 lead in the fourth quarter

Ohio State finally found some offensive momentum in the fourth quarter. The Buckeyes converted a 4th-and-2 with an 18 yard run by Will Howard that set the offense up at the Texas 16-yard line.

Running back Quinshon Judkins ran it in from one yard out a few plays later to give the Buckeyes a 21-14 lead.

The Longhorns converted multiple third downs to keep the drive alive before Quinn Ewers hit Jaydon Blue for his second touchdown of the game. Texas ties it at 14-14 late in the third quarter.

The Buckeyes retake the lead right before the half

It took Ohio State just one play to retake the lead after Texas touchdown. Will Howard floated the ball to running back TreVeyon Henderson on a screen pass. Henderson then took it 75 yards to the end-zone to give the Buckeyes a 14-7 lead over the Longhorns at the break.

Texas ties it at 7-7 before halftime

On their sixth drive of the half, the Longhorns finally put points on the board. Texas went 59 yards on seven plays before the half to tie the game at 7-7.

Backup quarterback Arch Manning converted a 4th-and-1 to keep the Longhorns drive alive. Three plays later quarterback Quinn Ewers connected with running back Jaydon Blue for a 18-yard touchdown plays.

Ohio State takes 7-0 following fourth down stop

Texas received the opening kickoff and drove the down to the Ohio State 36-yard line but the Buckeyes defense got the stop. Linebacker Cody Simon broke up a pass on 4th-and-3 to force a turnover on downs.

The Buckeyes offense then went down the field and once again scored on their first drive. Running back Quinshon Judkins ran it in from nine yards out to give Ohio State a 7-0 lead over Texas in the first quarter.

Lettermen Row checking in for the Rose Bowl

Ohio State takes on Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Friday night with a trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship on the line. Lettermen Row’s Spencer Holbrook and Tim May are at AT&T Stadium today to cover the Buckeyes showdown against the Longhorns.

One difference between this game and previous Ohio State games this season is that the Buckeye are not releasing availability report ahead of Cotton Bowl semifinal.
