Ohio State starters Haskell Garrett, Cam Brown get chance to recover

There is no sense in pushing veterans back early during the midseason off date for Ohio State, so that means a light workload for defensive starters Haskell Garrett and Cameron Brown this week. Ohio State coach Ryan Day indicated there was hope that both Garrett’s leg issue and the apparent head injury for Brown would be resolved in time for next week’s trip to Indiana.

The Buckeyes are also expecting defensive end Tyreke Smith to be ready to return against the Hoosiers, and it appears that backup running back Miyan Williams should be ready to resume practicing for the Buckeyes during this development week in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center as well. For the most part, Ohio State got through the first half of the season in relatively good shape — and should be even stronger after the break.

New Tim May Podcast episode

Lettermen Row’s Tim May returns for another episode of the Tim May Podcast, and he is joined by Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward to analyze the Buckeyes win over Maryland and what it means going forward. Tim and Austin also take a look at the upcoming Ohio State bye week as the Buckeyes prepare for what should be a fun second half of the season.

Tim is also joined by former Ohio State defensive lineman Michael Bennett to break down the Buckeyes surge up front. The defensive ends have shown improvement in recent weeks, and the interior pass rush has been a force over the last three games.

Also, Tim brings in Sporting News college football writer Bill Bender for an in-depth look at how the Buckeyes have turned things around 180 degrees from the start of the season. The offense has been the most impressive in the sport in the last month since the close win over Akron. Bender takes a look at that unit, where Ohio State is trending and the team’s place in the national landscape as part of the College Football Playoff race.

Top Buckeyes defensive target will visit Alabama

Caden Curry is one of the most coveted defensive prospects in the country.

The four-star defensive lineman from Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove has a loaded final five. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon and his hometown Indiana Hoosiers are the last contenders.

He has already taken official visits to Ohio State and Indiana. The Indianapolis area star has told Lettermen Row this week that he has locked in his third official visit.

Curry will be visiting Alabama on the weekend of Nov. 6 for the Crimson Tide’s showdown with LSU in Tuscaloosa. Curry is excited to get down to Alabama for what should be a raucous atmosphere in one of college football’s best environments and top rivalry games.

Curry has plenty of factors on his mind when it comes to his decision. But he is finally seeing those visions up close on game day visits.
