COLUMBUS — There’s one more real week of Ohio State football recruiting before the program turns its focus to the upcoming season.
So, literally and figuratively speaking, it’s time to eat. Ryan Day and his assistant coaches will welcome in top recruits from around the country for a day of fun, fellowship and food on Thursday for what’s been labeled as a recruiting cookout in Columbus.
Florida will be in the spotlight for the Buckeyes. The Sunshine State is sending a number of its top players north for the event. The headliners are 5-star running back Richard Young and highly-ranked 4-star defensive end Derrick LeBlanc. It will be the second trip to Ohio State this summer for Young and the third for Leblanc.
As a handful of young players advance their recruitments, some 2022 prospects have brought theirs to an end. Top offensive line target Addison Nichols, who officially visited Ohio State last month, announced a decision date and will pick Tennessee, Ohio State or North Carolina next week.
Lettermen Row’s Jeremy Birmingham and Spencer Holbrook are discussing those topics and more in the latest episode of Talking Stuff, the recruiting podcast from Lettermen Row. The pair also talk about the first visit to Ohio State for No. 1-ranked 2023 prospect Lebbeus Overton and why the Buckeyes weren’t really a contender in the recruitment of linebacker Shawn Murphy.
Talking Stuff is presented by the fine folks at Byers Auto, the best place to buy a new or used car in Central Ohio.
