COLUMBUS — Ohio State is nearing the end of its preseason training camp and moving closer toward preparation for Week One against Notre Dame.

But the Buckeyes still have a few more preseason watch lists they’ve kept an eye out for. And Monday’s latest list showcased more familiar names for Ohio State.

The AP preseason All-American first- and second-teams were released Monday afternoon, and five Ohio State players were named.

Running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. were named First-Teamers. Quarterback C.J. Stroud and offensive tackle Dawand Jones were named on the Second Team.

First-Team

TreVeyon Henderson enters his second season as the starting running back for Ohio State. He blossomed in Week One last season at Minnesota, where he had 95 total yards of offense and a touchdown. His step onto the college football scene was his 70-yard touchdown reception flare route out of the backfield.

Henderson finished the season with 1,248 rushing yards, 15 touchdowns, 312 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba carved out his niche in the Buckeyes wide receiving pecking order last season. He played alongside two current NFL first-round draft picks Garret Wilson and Chris Olave, and still finished with the most receiving yards — 1,606.

Paris Johnson Jr. started all 13 games for Ohio State last season, but not at his natural tackle position. He slides outside to the exterior this year in the Buckeyes reenergized offensive line.

Second-Team

C.J. Stroud silenced critics throughout his first season as the Ohio State starting quarterback last season. He finished as a Heisman trophy runner-up after he totaled over 4000 passing yards, 44 touchdowns and only six interceptions.

With a full season under his belt and another offseason training camp to match, expect Stroud to be one of — if not the — best players in college football.

Dawand Jones also started on the Ohio State offensive line last season at multiple positions, but he will be another anchor on the outside this season.
